This week has been a busy one, working on leads trying to find new clients, support of existing clients, trying to help a nine year old with homework, and the other tasks that life presents to all of us, but I wanted to take this time to present a few updates on what MLD Services will bring to our customers in the near future.
Online backups through MLD Services is about to be offered along with a folder synchronization service. Using SaaS we will be able to backup your data using 256 bit encryption, monitor the logs for errors, and provide support when needed. MLD Services is working hard to bring this service to you at a price that both the home and small business user can afford.
Online desktop support through SaaS. MLD Services successfully used this with a client this past week and this service will be of great value to our customers. This service does not require software to be installed and runs in the “cloud.” This past week brought another Windows XP system that was so overrun with malware and viruses that it was unusable, and while Microsoft is supplying updates for this O/S it still seems to be so prone to these problems that maybe you should consider Windows 7, or GNU/Linux.
While upgrading to 7 or GNU/Linux does not guarantee a virus free web experience, I am still not seeing the calls for these systems that I see for XP. Regardless of which O/S that you choose to use, Apple’s OSX included, you should follow these steps to protect your computer and possibly your identity.
- Protect your personal information. It’s valuable.
- Know who you’re dealing with.
- Use security software that updates automatically.
- Keep your operating system and Web browser up-to-date, and learn about their security features.
- Keep your passwords safe, secure, and strong.
- Back up important files.
